17) Sept '19: Connaughtman's Rambles, Swing 42

Updated: Feb 7

Hello! I am excited to be bringing you lesson #17 of the 'Free Monthly Lessons' published via I'm delighted with how the lessons have come out this month, and I hope you'll enjoy the two areas I've chosen to look at; one is the great Irish tune 'The Connaughtman's Rambles' and the other is 'Swing 42' by Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France. Here's a bit more info on what I have in store for you all for this month:

Beginner & Intermediate - The Connaughtman's Rambles

For the Beginner & Intermediate lesson, I want to look at an Irish tune called 'The Connaughtman's Rambles. This is a jig in 6/8 time signature so we'll have a look at how the Right Hand should be operating in 6/8 and discuss options for playing chords as well as learning the melody. The lesson pdf can be downloaded here and the corresponding video is here.

Advanced - Swing 42 by Django Reinhardt

For the Advanced lesson, I want to show you how to play the tune 'Swing 42' by Django Reinhardt. The Hot Club had a really rhythmic way of playing chords that I've attempted to try to show you how to imitate, plus we'll have a play around the melody. The lesson worksheet can be downloaded here and the corresponding video is here.

These lessons are completely free and I intend to try to keep them that way... but this is quite a time consuming exercise for me so if you are enjoying the lessons, please do consider making a donation to MandoMike via the link at the bottom of the homepage .... or go and purchase the new PDF workbook :-)

If you have any questions, or any problems with accessing the lessons or the videos, please just in touch via the contact page.

See you next month! Hope you enjoy the lesson :) Mando Mike
