Hello fellow mandolin player! I hope this post finds you well, here we are with lesson #10 of the 'Free Monthly Lessons' published via www.mandomike.com. Before we dive into the free lessons, I have two things I'd like to tell you about:
1) I finally have a PDF workbook up for sale! Your kind donations have kept me going over the last few months, but I am pleased to finally offer you a way of supporting MandoMike and receiving something in return :) My first PDF workbook (of hopefully many over the next few years) is called 'Scales, Arpeggios & Warm-Up Exercises (V1)' and is available here. There's also an mp3 walkthrough to go with it.
2) 'Mandolin Day with Mike Giverin' If you missed the news, I'm running another Mandolin Day on 6th April in Manley (Cheshire). Full info and tickets are available here. There's only about 8 spaces left so be quick! Here's what's available in the lessons this month:
For the beginner lesson, I want to look at a beautiful tune called 'Ashokan Farewell' written by Jay Ungar. We'll just learn the melody this month as there are some Ups and Downs to discuss, in March's lesson will look at the chords. The lesson pdf can be downloaded here and the corresponding video is here.
For the intermediate lesson, I want to show you an arpeggio exercise that will benefit your double stop skills we started last month and increase your fretboard knowledge. The lesson worksheet can be downloaded here, and the corresponding video is here.
For the advanced lesson, I want to show you a really quirky tune called 'Crazy Creek'. This is great fun to play as it wanders through several keys and is really fun to jam around on . The lesson worksheet can be downloaded here and the corresponding video is here.
These lessons are completely free and I intend to try to keep them that way... but this is quite a time consuming exercise for me so if you are enjoying the lessons, please do consider making a donation to MandoMike via the link at the bottom of the homepage .... or go and purchase the new PDF workbook :-)
If you have any questions, or any problems with accessing the lessons or the videos, please just in touch via the contact page.
See you next month! Hope you enjoy the lesson :) Mando Mike
